How Are Computers Different from TVs or Fridges?

A TV shows videos. 📺

A fridge keeps things cold. ❄️

But they don’t decide or solve anything. They work the same way every time.

A computer is different. You can use it to write stories, solve puzzles, play games, or send messages. All with the same machine!

That’s because computers are general-purpose machines. 🧰

That means one computer can do many different things—just by running different instructions.

But TVs or fridges are single-purpose machines. 🔌

They do one job and that’s it.

Even if a fridge has a screen, that doesn’t make it a computer.

But if it can check food levels, talk to the internet, and follow programs – it has a computer inside it!

So what makes something a computer isn’t the screen or buttons –

it’s the ability to follow programs and do many things.
